What happens when a writer confirms their share?

When an invited co-writer confirms their share, MRP records their agreement and moves the composition closer to being ready to lock.

The invitation

When you add a co-writer to a composition, MRP sends them an email with a unique invitation link. The email includes the composition title and the share attributed to them. Until they act on the invitation, their claim status is Awaiting Confirmation.

What the co-writer does

When the co-writer clicks the invitation link, they are taken to MRP. If they do not have an account, they can create one first. Once logged in, they see the composition details and their claimed share. They can:

  • Confirm — they agree the information is correct; their status changes to Confirmed
  • Dispute — they believe something is incorrect; their status changes to Disputed and the composition creator is notified

What happens after confirmation

Once a co-writer confirms their share, their claim is marked Confirmed and MRP records the date of confirmation. The confirmed information will be included in the Split Sheet when the composition is locked. The composition can only be locked when all invited co-writers have confirmed — a single unconfirmed claim blocks locking.

What happens if a writer disputes

If a co-writer disputes their claim, MRP notifies the composition creator. The creator can then update the composition details and re-invite the writer, or discuss the discrepancy and resolve it. The composition cannot be locked until all disputes are resolved and all parties have confirmed.

Resending an invitation

If a co-writer has not received or has lost their invitation email, you can resend it from the composition page. Each resent invitation generates a fresh link.

Publishers and confirmation

Publisher information (publisher name, IPI, and share) is entered by the writer themselves when they set up their publishing disposition. Publishers listed in MRP do not receive a separate invitation and do not need to confirm independently. Publisher entries are recorded as part of the writer's claim.
