Adding and assigning a publisher
How to record publisher information for a writer in the composition setup wizard.

Where publisher information is entered
Publisher information is set in the Publishing stage of Guided Song Setup. Each writer's publishing section is independent. To record a company for a writer, select I have a publisher and choose an active managed company or enter the relevant external company.
What you need to enter
When a writer has a publisher, the following fields are shown:
- Publisher name — the full legal name of the publishing company
- Publisher IPI — the IPI / CAE number of the publishing company, not the writer
- Publisher PRO — the PRO the publisher is affiliated with
- Publisher share — the percentage of the writer's publishing rights controlled by the publisher
Two different IPI numbers
The Publisher IPI identifies the company in the rights system. It is distinct from a writer's IPI even if the same person is self-publishing. MRP can send a secure, time-limited Publisher IPI completion link to the relevant contact when a missing company identifier must be completed without giving that person a full account.
Managed companies and external companies
When the confirming member actively manages a company in MRP, that company relationship is authoritative and its publisher claim is confirmed automatically. External company information remains distinct from a writer claim. MRP can request missing Publisher IPI metadata from an external company contact, but that request does not change a locked ownership record.
Multiple writers with different publishers
Each co-writer can have a different publisher — or no publisher at all. There is no requirement for co-writers to use the same publishing company. Each writer sets up their own publishing arrangement independently in Step 4.
Changing publisher details
Before locking, correct the song-level publishing choice or company details in the composition workflow. After locking, confirmed publishing ownership is preserved as evidence. Use an amendment for a rights change; a missing Publisher IPI may be added only where MRP explicitly permits metadata completion without rewriting the locked rights record.
