What does Awaiting Confirmation mean?
Awaiting Confirmation means an invited co-writer has not yet confirmed their share. A composition cannot be locked until all co-writer confirmations are in.

What the status means
When you invite a co-writer, their proposal shows as Awaiting Confirmation until they review it. It means the rights proposal is still waiting for their response. The composition’s current lock checks identify whether that unresolved claim blocks the next action.
Claim status at a glance
Each writer's claim on a composition can be in one of several states:
- Awaiting Confirmation — the invitation has been sent; the co-writer has not yet responded
- Confirmed — the co-writer has reviewed and agreed to their share
- Change requested — the co-writer has asked the creator to review something
- Cancelled — the invitation was cancelled by the composition creator
Why Awaiting Confirmation blocks locking
The locked rights evidence must reflect the current eligible confirmations. If a pending proposal blocks locking, MRP says so in the Passport readiness messages. Resolve the invitation or make the necessary amendment before trying again.
What to do if a co-writer has not confirmed
If a co-writer is taking a long time to confirm, you have a few options:
- Resend the invitation — from the composition page, resend the invitation email with a fresh link
- Follow up directly — contact the co-writer and ask them to check their email or log in to MRP
- Check the email address — make sure the email you entered for the co-writer is correct; if not, cancel the claim and re-invite with the correct address
Disputes block locking too
If a co-writer clicks Dispute instead of Confirm, MRP marks their claim as Disputed and notifies you. The composition cannot be locked while a dispute is open. Review the disputed details with the co-writer, make any necessary corrections, and re-invite them to confirm.
