Setting up your MRP profile
How to complete your MRP profile, including your legal name, IPI number, PRO affiliation, and directory settings.

When you first sign up
After creating your account, MRP walks you through a short onboarding process. You will be asked about your role (songwriter, composer, lyricist, publisher, and so on) and given the opportunity to enter your rights information. Only your country is required during onboarding — everything else can be filled in later from your Profile page.
What onboarding collects
During onboarding you can provide:
- Your role(s) — e.g. Songwriter or composer, Lyricist, Publisher (optional, multi-select)
- Country — the only required field; used as your default country on compositions
- PRO — your Performing Rights Organisation (e.g. ASCAP, BMI, SOCAN, PRS); optional during onboarding
- Writer IPI / CAE number — your individual PRO identifier; optional until a registration workflow requires it
- Publisher and company details — optional during onboarding; managed companies can be maintained later from Profile
- Directory — whether your profile is searchable by other MRP members
Legal name matters
Keep your personal and legal name aligned with the records held by your PRO. Your profile can store legal, first, middle, last, and display names; the composition record and locked evidence determine what is used for a specific workflow.
Completing your profile
Your Profile page has two sections relevant to rights management:
- Personal Information — legal name, first name, middle name, last name, display (stage) name, country, and optional contact details
- Rights Information — PRO, Writer IPI / CAE, rights-collection details, and an optional SoundExchange account reference
- My Publishing Companies — reusable company contact, Publisher IPI, Publisher PRO, territories, and a default for future song choices
IPI / CAE number format
Enter the Writer IPI assigned to you as an individual by your PRO. A publishing company has its own Publisher IPI, which belongs on that company record and must never be substituted with a writer's IPI. If you are unsure of either value, verify it with the PRO, publisher, or official rights directory before registration.
The MRP member directory
If you opt in to the directory during onboarding, other MRP members can search for you by name, PRO, or IPI when they add co-writers to a composition. You can update your directory preference at any time from your Profile page.
