Batch Setup vs. Bulk Registration — Which should I use?

Choose Batch Setup for shared song details, or Bulk Registration when each composition may be different.

Quick comparison

Choose the workflow that matches your songs:

  • Same writers + same publishing relationships across several songs? → Use Batch Setup; percentages may differ
  • Different writers or publishing relationships from song to song, or importing a large catalog? → Use Bulk Registration

SET UP AS A BATCH

Use this when several songs have the SAME writers and the SAME publishing relationship for each writer. Writer and publisher percentages can be different for each song.

  • Example: Jean and Johnny write every song. Johnny is Self-published on every song, while the writer and publisher percentages change from song to song.
  • Enter the shared writers and publishing relationships once, then set each song's percentages separately.
  • If the writers or publishing relationships are different, create a separate batch.
  • Each song still gets its own individual Music Rights Passport.

BULK REGISTRATION

Use this when you need to add many compositions and the information may be DIFFERENT from song to song.

  • Enter multiple compositions through Manual entry.
  • Import multiple compositions through CSV/spreadsheet import.
  • The writers, splits, publishers, and other information can vary between compositions.

Where to find each workflow

Start Guided Song Setup and choose Set Up as a Batch on Step 1. For Bulk Registration, go to My Catalog → Bulk Register.
